This reminds me of something funny that happened... So, last week, I was trying to explain to my boss, Mark (bless his heart, he's a good guy, just... not tech-savvy), how to use a new feature on our project management software. He kept clicking the wrong thing, getting increasingly frustrated, and finally exclaimed, "This is ridiculous! It's like trying to herd cats... wearing oven mitts!"
Which, naturally, made me snort-laugh into my coffee. Later, while I was cleaning up the spill, I thought of this joke:
Why did the boss cross the playground?
To micromanage the seesaw!
I know, I know, it's cheesy. But it made me chuckle, especially considering how Mark definitely has a tendency to, uh, oversee things. Like, does he REALLY need to know exactly how many paperclips I used this week? Probably not. But hey, that's him!
It got me thinking, though. I read somewhere that humor is often based on the unexpected or incongruous. Like, we expect bosses to be these all-knowing, efficient leaders, so when they're hilariously out of touch or just plain awkward, it's funny because it breaks that expectation. Or, in this case, a seesaw!
Anyway, what do you guys think? Is that joke too on-the-nose, or does it resonate? Maybe I'm just projecting my own boss-related frustrations onto the world. And hey, maybe I'm being a little harsh on Mark. He does bring donuts sometimes... even if they're the day-old ones from the gas station.
Let me know if you've heard this one before!
